A colourful day, when the outgoing leaders make way for the new leaders to shoulder responsibilities to lead forward the hopeful students of their respective houses. The school captain, the vice-captain, the cultural captain, the sports captain, the four house captains and vice-captains take oath and assume responsibilities and duties. This marks the beginning of an active academic year.
It was a feat, resulting from a month long of hard work and dedication. After the initial hiccups, we at last were able to unveil our science fest to the parent community. Needless to say, none of it would have actualized, without the sheer dedication and determination of both the students and the teachers’ fraternity.
The exhibition saw participation across grades five to ten. Colonel Gopal T. Kaushik honoured and graced the occasion. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation and the students nervously fidgeted. At around 10.30 am the floodgates opened and the parents poured in wave after wave. The more popular displays of the hologram, drug test, darkness sensing light, colour detecting car, rocket fuel and the quad copter saw many queries. All of which were answered most knowledgeably. The students truly rose to the occasion and escorted the parents around. The parents overwhelming response, selfies and all made the day a resounding success.
The mood was now jubilant as the students hard work had paid off. The waters receded – as the parents departed all carrying cherished memories of the stupendous day, memories that all would savour at leisure.
All over the world, Teacher’s Day celebrations are undertaken to honour teachers for their unceasing efforts to impart knowledge to their students. By having celebrations on Teacher’s Day, we convey the message that we care for our teachers, just as they do us. Celebrating the festival is the recognition of the devotion, with which, teachers undertake the responsibility of educating a child academically as well as morally. Teachers are a significant part of everyone’s life. They show us the right path and groom us to become a better citizen and a better person. They teach us to face the most difficult challenges of life and get through them, easily.Teacher’s Day is a wonderful opportunity for the students to extend their sincere gratitude to their teachers, for being an influential part of their life.
The whole country brims with life and activity to mark the day of Independence, the struggle for which has left an indelible mark on the Indian history and its ethos. It is a country wide celebration and our school, ‘The Amaatra Academy’ joins in as a musician in an orchestra. The school premises is adorned and the students come dressed in ethnic wear in celebration of the rich diversity which is our country’s pride and its strength. Various programmes are staged with the central theme in mind. The struggle to freedom was not an easy journey. This reminds us the value of freedom and the valour of our freedom fighters.
The Amaatra Academy has an unwavering commitment to the comprehensive and holistic development of the young learners. Along with the requisite academic and related skills, we try to instill in our students varied life skills and empathy. Empathy with a concern and responsibility for not just the environment but also the less fortunate living entities. This opportunity created and presented to the students via a summer camp and outreach programme, wherein they could experience the fulfillment that came from sharing this learning with others.
The school celebrated Hindi Diwas on 15th September 2016. The celebration began with hailing the national language. The students from different classes showcased the immense glory of the Hindi language through interesting plays, dance performance, songs and poems. A few selected students enlightened all, on the importance and impact of our National language, Hindi. The highlights of the day were the thought provoking speeches by the students. every language is a rich treasure which we must learn to appreciate and respect.
Gratitude is the best attitude. Our grandparents have sacrificed everything it takes to make children successful in life. Years of experience have made them wise, wear and tear has made them tough, understanding life in depth has made them soft, kind and loving which needs to be recognized and celebrated. At ‘Amaatra’ we decided to honour them by celebrating ‘The Grandparents Day’. Our primary motive was to champion the cause of the elderly and to spreading awareness among the young, the need to respect and care for them. We hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide.
The day unwrapped itself gradually like the bud spreading its fragrance, quietly and evidently all around. The following events were conducted:

A good many grandparents expressed their appreciation for the school’s sensitivity and thoughtfulness.
On July 1st and 2nd, The Amaatra Academy hosted its first MUN, ‘A MUN 2016’. Despite being the school’s first MUN, everything had been spruced to perfection. 150 Delegates from 30 schools all across Bengaluru attained new levels of diplomacy and public speaking in their committees. The MUN had various, interesting agendas such as the Sunni-Shia conflict of the ISIS committee, the EU-crisis of the ECOSOC and the role of PMC’S in modern warfare of the DISEC. The conference also had its unique ISIS crisis J.C.C which worked side by side where the crisis committee received constant updates.
The E.B members of each committee too were the crème-de-la-creme of the MUN circuit featuring names such as Kiran Suryananrayan, Bharath Gururagavendran, Siddarth Abraham, Jonathan Bhavnasi and Anish Anandaram. They made sure that debates were of the highest quality. The conference secretariat members too were well known names in the MUNning community. Vaibhav Mopidevi and Chiranth Jawahar were the General Secretary and the Under Secretary General of the conference.
The MUN saw active participation from students within our school, a reason why A MUN 2016 was truly a class apart under the guidance and continued support of our very able teacher coordinator for the MUN: Mrs. Jyothi Kukreja.
AMUN first of the series to come, was successfully organized by the grade twelve students in the academic year 2016-17. Kudos to our young adults, the event was a smash success, receiving many accolades
Based on our own version of the Darwinian Theory, is the mythology of the Dasha Avataras. Running parallel to the silurian period, Devonian period, Triassic period etc. We have the Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha Avataras all comprising the Satya Yuga. And the Vamana, Parashuram, Rama Avatara through the Treta Yuga. Krishna Avatara denoting the Dwapara Yuga. And lastly the Budda and Kalaki Avatara giving us the Kali Yuga meaning the present pay.
All this knowledge was woven into an intrinsic web to be presented as our Annual Day epic play ‘Evolution & Puranas’ . A group of children representing the modern day alongside an elderly village woman of ancient India were the ‘Sutradhars’ of this intriguing journey.
This mammoth task took arduous efforts, scripting, sculpting, balancing, chores, graphing and prepping to result in the amalgamation of joy, melodrama, dance, music and colour that unfolded eventually. The result was, the unveiling of a beautiful intricately woven tapestry. The basic elements of which forms the fabric of the heritage of ancient India. Puppetry comprising of Banraku puppets, shadow puppets and face puppets alongside the traditional ones were well used to take the story forward.
Indian classical ballet and contemporary dance enlivened the drama, the choir of mantras and hymns built the pathos to a befitting climax. And the audio visuals gave the whole play a scintillating effect!
The only element brighter than the performance itself was the sparkle of excitement, dedication and vibrancy that lit up the eyes of the contributing members. It was indeed a very proud moment for all when we received a standing ovation. Truly a stupendous moment for those who had given it their all, to the production and who in turn had taken away from it just as much, in the form of memories, lessons, tears and joys that it had offered while going through the process of creation.

No school could smoothly function without the presence of the support staffs. Recognizing the significance of their services and responding to what they render, the students of the 5th grade not only thought of a day but actualized it by hosting an assemble to honour them.
We at Amaatra absolutely prioritise above everything else, on student needs. Not just academic ones, but also physical needs are single-mindedly focused on.
The infrastructure is absolutely world class. Over and above the air conditioned classroom, a student can build on his practical skills in one of the many laboratories and workshops. The junior school in fact boasts of its own set of laboratories, both for the sciences and computers.
Apart from transportation, we offer a sit-in dining room with hot nutritionally balanced snacks and meals. Mindful of the little ones, we have a separate play area, while the older children have a large field to themselves. The more energetic students can indulge themselves on one of our many ball courts.
In the middle of the main building is set a beautifully designed quadrangle. Here the primary school has its assembly, where in the younger students can showcase their talent, starting each day savouring a new idea.
Our premises are maintained with a passion for giving the best to the students, who in turn will contribute to and nurture the environment they spent a better part of their lives in.
At Amaatra the well being of a child is closest to our heart. Any unforeseen incident leading to the unwell child is promptly acted upon, by our own Florence Nightingale – a qualified nurse on call, no less! We boast of a well equipped four bed infirmary and a tie up with a local multi speciality hospic.
The summer programme was a comprehensive and meticulously planned journey. The students had every opportunity to cultivate their physical intelligences via dance and other varied forms of art. Music and dance also helps the child channelize body energy and calm the mind.
Keeping in sync with the world wildlife Day, the students had opportunities to engage in debate, attend sessions on, ‘Zoos and Wildlife Sanctuaries’ even watch movies like ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Eight Below’. Right from the sky above to the sea below, nature abounds in the richness of colour. The human psyche responds to this world of colours, identifying with it. Just how the play of light works, both on the world and the human eye was revealed to the students. This mysterious world of colours and designs resulted in the colour wheel and even painted T-shirts. It was sheer pleasure to watch the children having immense fun.
The mouth is the window to the health of one’s body. A team from a dental health centre came over and briefed the students about the importance of dental care and hygiene. A perfect example of parent-school collaboration in this case the dentist was a parent.
We at Amaatra look forward to such rewarding partnerships, of the students benefit most.
The outreach programme this year aimed at sensitizing the young mind towards animals and caring for them at large, resulting in an enhanced co-existence. A trip to the ‘Martins Farm’ in Karmelaram provided the platform for this interaction. The children came prepared with little treats for the animals there. Yet another trip to a shelter for dogs and cats called, ‘Precious Paws’ in Kanakapura – took this to another level altogether. The children learnt firsthand that being kind was a quality that did not discriminate. They truly imbibed empathy and compassion hands-on.
(476–550 CE) was the first of the major mathematicianastronomers from the classical age of Indian mathematics and astronomy. In the field of mathematics, he worked on the place value system and zero, approximated the value of π and provided elegant results for the summation of series of squares and cubes in algebra. In the field of astronomy, he explained the lunar eclipse and solar eclipse, rotation of Earth on its axis and reflection of light by the moon. India’s first satellite was named after him. The name Charaka is a Hindi name, which means “Roamer”. People with this name have a deep inner desire to create and express themselves, often in public speaking, acting, writing and singing. Charaka was one of the principal contributors to the ancient art and science of Ayurveda, a system of medicine, a lifestyle developed in ancient India. He is famous for authoring the medical treatise, the Charaka Samhita.
Pāṇini was an Ancient Indian Sanskrit scholar who created the grammar for Sanskrit, particularly for his formulation of the 3,959 rules of Sanskrit morphology, syntax and semantics known as Ashtadhyayi (Aṣṭādhyāyī, meaning “eight chapters”), the foundational text of the grammatical branch of the Vedanga, the auxiliary scholarly disciplines of Vedic religion. Pāṇini’s comprehensive and scientific theory of grammar is conventionally taken to mark the end of the period of Vedic Sanskrit, by definition introducing Classical Sanskrit.
Sushruta one of the earliest surgeons of the recorded history (600 B.C) is believed to be the first individual to describe plastic surgery. Sushruta who lived nearly 150 years before Hippocrates vividly described the basic principles of plastic surgery in his famous ancient treatise “Sushruta Samhita ”. Surgery had his roots more than 4000 years old in India, back to the Indus River Civilization.
Our Grades 9 through to 12 are put through the rigour of a Residential Programme. Herein they follow a strict timetable comprising of not only the subjects but also yoga and free play. There is no room for electronic gadgets or even plain TV.
The subject teachers clear doubts and prepare them for boards, through the implementation of pointed and well planned worksheets. itis an endeavour to bring a paradigm shift in the way children learn. knowledge is not thrust on them but instead they part take in the knowledge acquisition process. A choice of well balanced nutritious snacks and meals, support the young learners amply. The philosophy behind this is to help the students discipline themselves, taking responsibility for their extra mile, preparing them for life.
Invictus Aero Sport conducts aerosport modelling sessions on every Saturday, helping the children partake in the process of crafting aerodynamic models. This acts as a braingym, through which their engineering creativity is tickled.
For those inclined towards brain games we offer chess, where they are taken forward by an expert. This kindles their mathematical and other strategical skills. It augments their critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, as well as improve their attention span.
Students at ‘The Amaatra Academy’, celebrated the spirit of Christmas with joy and cheer. The festivities included Christmas carols singing and delicious holiday treats in the form of class parties. Children had a great time participating in the games and other activities. All in high spirits, revelled in the festivities of the season!
